The Silk Road Portfolio
I became interested in traveling to China through unusual circumstances -- starting with learning
Greek folk dancing! From there, it's only a short hop to Middle Eastern music and dance, and then
another skip to Central Asian music and dance, and finally, the music and dance of Western China.
In 2000, I took a long anticipated trip through Chinese Central Asia, following one of
the many paths of the old trade route now romantically known as the Silk Road. In the eight months that followed,
I completed a portfolio of 13 serigraphs, created from the photographs and stories collected from the trip.
Each image of the portfolio is an edition of 12 prints (plus 2 ap) and measures 6"x8"; Screenprinted with the Gocco
on Rives Lightweight, paper size 8"x10"; about half of the prints have sold out. Here are two of the images; I will rotate them
through periodically.
